An example of what can be found

Williamsburg college teacher Brian Walsh and his circle of friends usually don’t spend Saturday nights Dumpster diving, but they made an exception on January 14. The group spotted a trash bin on Jackson Street that was overflowing with books and decided to have a look. […] “Most of the books were junky, but you could tell there was some good stuff,” Walsh, 30, says. “We made a huge divot in the pile and found this whole slew of cool stuff from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. There were French dental journals that have strange illustrations, a proposal for the creation of Central Park from 1853 and a second edition of Don Quixote from 1771. It predates the Revolutionary War—that’s pretty insane!”
The books had been in the trash for a couple of days.
